This story speaks of a young girl Brenda who struggles while living at home in the south. She, along with other siblings, worked diligently for her family. Although she has pleasant friends in her current metropolis, the young girl still dreams of a better quality of life somewhere other than her hometown. The country young woman resides in Jacksonville Georgia at a young age, she plants a secret confidential message under an old oak tree that she calls her wishing tree; expressing aspirations of moving to New York one day to become a lawyer or engage in some significant occupation. Years later, after attaining a college education in New York, Brenda accomplished her dream of becoming an attorney employed at a prominent law firm; It was there that she met a prospective romantic acquaintance, and she commenced courting the corporate lawyer who turned out to be a philanderer. The discovery certainly breaks the county girl’s heart because of not being knowledgeable of the city’s smooth trickster types. Brenda’s heart breaks again after hearing of the death of her mother; mournfully, she then travels back home for the funeral. While there she discovers a significant secret following retrieving a note that she placed years ago under her treasured wishing tree.
